Coronation Street fans think they have spotted a way that Todd Grimshaw can be ‘saved’ as they issued a demand for the character amid his abuse at the hands of his partner, Theo Silverton.

Todd appeared ready to leave Theo once and for all after Billy Mayhew, who had his concerns about what was going on behind closed doors, discovered the true extent of what his former boyfriend was going through.

During Debbie Webster and Ronnie Bailey’s wedding, Todd was on edge as he attended alongside Theo, despite having recently asking him to marry him. Theo’s latest wrath was unleashed when Todd accidentally knocked into James Bailey, with a drink flying all over him.

As Theo degraded him in front of everyone, Todd rushed out to get cleaned up and was followed by Billy. Coaxing him out of the toilets, Billy saw all of Todd’s bruises from Theo’s most recent beating. They then headed up to his hotel room where Todd showed him the footage given to him by Theo from the secret cameras in his home.

Todd couldn’t watch, even when Billy pointed out it had been edited and wasn’t showing the whole story. Once Todd had left, Billy found the original files and discovered what Todd had really been subject to. He once again confronted Todd and vowed to help him but as they prepared to head back to Weatherfield in the minibus, Theo arrived, making for an uncomfortable journey.

And things only got worse when Billy was confirmed as the victim of a multi-vehicle pile-up that was at the centre of a dramatic crossover between Corrie and fellow ITV soap Emmerdale, dubbed Corriedale.

Those who watched the special crossover episode on Monday (January 5) saw the crash was caused by Emmerdale killer John Sugden and Corrie villain Becky Swain as the pair collided while driving on a country road, sealing the exit storyline of vicar Billy Mayhew, who died after being trapped in a minibus which went up in flames.

Todd called for Billy, while Theo stood and watched in tears as the vehicle was ablaze. It was a few scenes later that Cassie Plummer confirmed that the “driver didn’t make it”. Later, at the hospital, Summer arrived and sobbed as she was taken into Todd’s arms.

During Tuesday’s (January 6) follow-up episode, a heartbroken Todd was seen comforting Summer, as Theo watched on alongside them in the hospital. After Theo headed to get checked over, Todd left the hospital and back at home, appeared to want to pack his bags. However, Summer arrived and the pair shared a heartbreaking conversation.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Theo was being hailed a hero by George Shuttleworth, with no one knowing that Theo could have rescued Billy before the minibus set alight. When he returned home, he found Todd vowing to be there for Summer, and Todd quickly appeared fearful of his return.
