A CORONATION Street star has bid farewell to the cobbles and the “best humans I know”, as she leaves her role and exits the soap.

The actress, 28, has been been one of the show’s main stars in recent years with a host of major storylines.

She joined the soap back in 2022, and in that time has impressed viewers so much, she has been nominated for an NTA, and an Inside Soap Award.

But this month Channique is waving goodbye to Coronation Street for pastures new.

As her exit storyline starts to play out, the actress has paid tribute to her co-stars.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, she posted a picture of her Coronation Street character Dee Dee will Roy Cropper, played by David Neilson, 76.

Channique wrote over the top of the picture: “Last time sharing the screen with the best of humans to know and work with @coronationstreet.”

QUITTING CORRIE

Back in October, Channique confirmed she had quit the show.

“I made the decision in spring, and it wasn’t a rash decision,” she told The Sun and other press.

“You know, I really took a couple of months from being offered my next year contract to actually even respond.

“I felt really torn, but I really just had, you know, the sense that it just felt like the time. I feel like I’ve been so privileged, and I’ve got to tell some great stories, and it’s been so wonderful.

“And obviously I’m very led by my faith as well. So I just really took my time over it and prayed into it.

“And I think, yeah, I found a real sense that I had done what I’d come to do, if that makes sense, not that I ever knew exactly what it was, but it just felt like I had achieved what I was sent here to do, so it was time to be brave.”

An emotional Channique added: “It’s been brilliant. I don’t think I could have written it either, like, I think it’s been exactly what it was meant to be.

“I’ve learned so much. I’ve made amazing friends, and I just loved this character, like, I‘m gonna get all get emotional on you all now. I’ve loved playing her.”

FINAL SCENES

Channique also reflected on filming her final scenes on the soap – with it being an emotional day.

“It was so good,” she said.

“Obviously it was an emotional day but it was lovely. I was in the building, and, you know, it was nice to be actually in the building on the last day and be on the street and stuff.

“And, yeah, it felt very nostalgic, everything, every corridor I was in it was like this is the last time I’m gonna be in the corridor, the last time I’m gonna be in The Rovers.

“So there’s a lot of that for me. But you know, it’s just one of those things, the price of love is loss, right?

“So I feel it because I love being here, and that’s great, it’s not like I can’t wait to get out of here.”
