SHOCKING TWIST!!! Coronation Street star teases ‘dramatic’ new baby plot with ‘twists and turns’
Coronation Street’s Shona and David Platt are set for a rollercoaster ride as they navigate their new baby storyline.
Julia Goulding, who portrays Shona on the cobbles, has hinted that it won’t be smooth sailing for the couple following the revelation of Shona’s pregnancy. The news came to light when David discovered a pregnancy test he believed belonged to their neighbour Betsy Swain
However, when fingers pointed towards his young daughter Lily Platt, Shona quickly cleared the air by revealing that the test was hers, confirming her pregnancy. But as this week’s episodes see the Platts celebrating the couple’s baby joy, Julia revealed to The Mirror that things could take a “dramatic” turn.
Hinting at “twists and turns” ahead, she suggested there could be some unexpected developments in store for the family, particularly concerning the couple’s child.
When asked if there were exciting scenes and happy news on the horizon, Julia responded: “Yeah, not that it’s without its drama.”, reports Keeping her cards close to her chest, she added: “There’s more drama on the way, definitely.”

Julia further teased the upcoming plotline, hinting that it was connected to the impending arrival of the new baby. She shared: “What can I tease? I don’t know, apart from that there is gonna be lots of twists and turns for them regarding the future of their family… child…”
Of course, Julia also commented on the ongoing bin-gate drama between the Platts and the Connor-Swain household, as they’ve been affectionately named by fans. With Lisa Swain squabbling with new neighbour David over bin usage, it’s certainly injected a dose of humour back into the soap.
Julia chimed in on the storyline, saying: “It’s so true to life isn’t it! Come on, who hasn’t had bin wars with their neighbours. I put locks on my bins once because someone kept fly-tipping in the recycling.”

We also quizzed the soap star on her thoughts about Lisa and her partner Carla Connor’s big move next door to the Platt family.
She admitted: “To be honest I’ve not done much with them yet. I did the back garden stuff. It’s nice because it brings it back to that sense of community.
“Even if it’s bickering with Carla, it has turned David into Gail Platt! It’s been really fun to play, really fun.” Discussing her co-star Lucy Fallon’s return to the show as Bethany Platt very soon, Julia said: “She’s very excited about coming back!”
