Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has teased “shocking” stories to come for her character Eva Price. The star returned to the role last week after seven years away, taking over as the new landlady of the Rovers Return.

Eva is back alongside her new family, including husband Ben and mother-in-law Maggie – whose money we learnt helped Ben to buy the pub.

Teasing what’s to come for her character, Catherine suggested that there is plenty of drama in the pipeline.

“What’s been lovely since coming back is the Rovers has just been filled with so much happiness and joy,” she told The Express.

“I can’t tell you because I’ve lost count of the amount of parties we’ve had in there, which has just been amazing. The energy of the cast and the writing is top-notch, so I have been having a lot of fun.

“However, it is Coronation Street. So there is some heavy drama coming up,” the actor further teased. “So while there is lots of laughter coming up there are also plenty of really shocking moments to come too.”

Pressed on how permanent her return is, Catherine then said: “Well, it depends when they get fed up with me! I mean that laugh can get quite irritating!”

The star went on to praise the writers, saying she was “extremely grateful” for giving “Eva so much” in terms of storylines.

“So fingers crossed they don’t get bored of me too fast,” she continued. “I’m just enjoying it while it’s there and we will see what happens but I would like to imagine that they have lots of plans for Eva.”

It comes as Ben’s son Will has arrived on the cobbles, having gone missing before it was revealed that he was finding the move to Weatherfield difficult.

However, the storyline has taken a disturbing turn, with viewers learning that Ben is hiding a dark secret – and Eva will no doubt play a central role in the plot.
