Roy Cropper’s (David Neilson) strange behaviour sparked concern for Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) in tonight’s Coronation Street, as she grew certain that he was hiding something.

The café owner had been acting shifty around the postman, which didn’t escape Nina’s notice.

She was so concerned that she started asking the customers if they’d noticed anything strange about him, but no one else had been alarmed by his behaviour.

Eventually, Nina asked Roy outright what was going on, and why he was being so weird around the postman.

He admitted that he had signed up to a scheme that allows people to write to prisoners, and had been sending letters to several convicts.

Nina was visibly relieved as she confessed she had been worried he’d been waiting for test results after some kind of health scare, but he was quick to put her mind at ease.

'Coronation Street' TV Show, Episodes 11301 - 11316 UK - Jul 2024 Coronation Street, is a British ITV long running television soap opera set in the fictional North of England town of Weatherfield, near Manchester. Created by Tony Warren, the series was first broadcast on December 9th, 1960, and was produced by ITV Granada.

She was still confused about why he would keep it a secret, but he brushed off her questions by insisting that he just hadn’t felt the need to broadcast it.

He explained that, during his time in prison, he realised that it can get quite lonely, and wanted to give other people in the same position someone to talk to.

Viewers will remember that Roy was wrongly arrested for Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) murder last year, when she went missing.

There had been signs that she’d been attacked at her flat, which Roy went in and cleaned so that Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) could get her deposit back after subletting to Lauren.

In the end, it was revealed that Lauren was actually alive, and Joel Deering had been behind her attack, leaving Roy a free man.

With Nina satisfied with his explanation, Roy told her he was nipping to the post box to catch the last collection.

However, Nina was confused when she later found him writing another letter, and though he explained that he was just adding a postscript to one of his letters, we couldn’t help but get the feeling that he is hiding something – especially when he later pulled out a letter that he clearly didn’t want her to see.

Fans have already taken to social media with zoomed in photos of the letter, trying to work out who Roy is in contact with.
