Emmerdale favourite Mark Charnock has teased that an upcoming special episode focused on Marlon Dingle and his daughter April Windsor will feature a “staggering” twist that viewers won’t see coming.

The highly anticipated episode, airing Tuesday, November 4, will be entirely centred on Marlon and April as she considers revealing the horrifying truth about what she’s been enduring at the hands of Ray Walters.
In recent weeks, April has been coerced into drug dealing and forced into dangerous situations after being manipulated by Ray. Her desperate attempt to escape with boyfriend Dylan Penders only made things worse, leaving both teens trapped under the villain’s control.
Now, as April struggles with guilt and fear, the episode promises an emotional confrontation between father and daughter that could change everything.
Mark Charnock Teases a Shocking Twist
Speaking ahead of the episode, Mark Charnock revealed that it will explore the fragile bond between Marlon and April — and hinted that the hour will deliver an unforgettable revelation.
“There’s a twist in it that will stagger the audience,” he teased. “April was going to come to a Halloween party with the rest of the family, but she doesn’t turn up and Marlon’s really sad about it. Then she turns up at the house and he’s on his own — and that’s where the episode begins.”
The actor explained that the story is deeply emotional, focusing on reconnection and rediscovery.
“It’s lovely actually,” Charnock said. “It’s about him rediscovering his daughter — the younger version of her before everything tragic that happened — and her rediscovering not only her dad but that part of herself too. It’s really something.”

Charnock also shared his admiration for the creative team behind the episode, calling the script “outstanding” and praising the producers for their trust. But his highest praise went to his young co-star Amelia Flanagan, who plays April.
“I’ve said it so many times now — she is a remarkable actress,” he said. “She can summon emotion on the spot. She’s grown up so much, and now you can see everything in her eyes — her emotion, her strength, her vulnerability. She’s got all the tools to carry on being a really brilliant actress.”
