A former Coronation Street icon could be making a dramatic return to the ITV soap as Carla Connor’s new flame.

Carla (played by Alison King) and Lisa (portrayed by Vicky Myers) sparked a romance last year, much to the viewers’ delight. However, it’s safe to say their journey hasn’t been smooth sailing.

Earlier this year, Carla’s murderous brother Rob Donovan (Marc Bayliss) escaped from prison and took Carla and Lisa hostage. The terrifying incident resulted in Lisa’s daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) being shot. Thankfully, Betsy made a recovery and Rob was returned to prison.

More drama ensued when police officer Lisa was taken off duty due to her struggles following the death of her colleague Craig Tinker (Colson Smith).

Additionally, Lisa is also trying to uncover the truth behind her late wife Becky’s (Amy Cudden) murder. Despite all the chaos, Carla and Lisa have recently been focusing on strengthening their relationship. This month, the couple got engaged.

However, Lisa was left gobsmacked this week when Becky showed up, revealing that she isn’t actually dead. In Friday’s episode (September 12), Becky explained that she entered witness protection after an undercover operation went awry.

Carla was equally stunned when she met Becky. Later, Carla left Lisa at the factory to chat things over, but it was evident that Carla was taken aback by her fiance’s miraculous return from the dead.

However, fans are now predicting that Lisa and Carla might call it a day. Moreover, they believe they’ve figured out who her new romantic interest could be.

On a Corrie Facebook fan page, one viewer speculated: “Carla and Lisa are going to split aren’t they?”.Another person concurred: “Probably.”

A third fan suggested that Carla’s ex-lover Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) might make a comeback. They posted: “They need to bring back Peter for Carla!” Another echoed: “Yes get him back!” A fifth fan also exclaimed: “I’ve always loved them together.”

Carla and Peter have had quite a tumultuous relationship on the soap over the years, with betrayal, lies, addiction and tragedy shaking their love story. Peter was last seen on Boxing Day 2023 when he bid farewell to the cobbles for a fresh start abroad, following his break up with Carla.
