A Coronation Street and Waterloo Road star has split with his girlfriend just 16 months after making a smitten debut on the red carpet.

Liam Scholes, 22, and Roisin Riley were first spotted at the launch of the 101 Dalmatians Music at The Palace Theatre in Manchester.

The young couple looked loved-up despite the “hard launch” of their relationship coming just months after his split from his former Corrie co-star Elle Mulvaney.

And while eyebrows were initially raised at how quickly he started dating Roisin following the end of his long-term relationship, the pair lasted over a year before they recently went their separate ways.

A source exclusively told The Sun: “Liam and Roisin tried to make things work, but they are both young and grew apart.

“They got together very quickly after he broke up with Elle, and in the end, I think it was too soon.”

They added: “He and Roisin are still following each other on social media though, so they seem keen to keep things friendly.”

Liam last posted a snap of Roisin to his Instagram in September 2025 as the pair enjoyed a lavish date night.

The stunning blonde could be seen donning a lacy gold and yellow dress as she sipped from a wine glass.

But now it seems the pair have split over Liam’s previous relationship woes.

The Waterloo star, who plays Noel McManus, started dating Corrie’s Elle Mulvaney, during his stint on the cobbles in 2021.

When the pair split it gobsmacked their co-stars and family and a source claimed no one knew exactly what happened.

The source said: “Elle and Liam were loves young dream and did everything together.

“It was all very sudden and they have both made it clear to pals it would take a miracle for them to get back together again.”

Elle confessed in an interview that she has to be cautious about potential suitors being seduced by her fame and fan base, as a regular on the Britain’s flagship soap opera.

She said: “There are telltale signs,” she explained. “If you’re on a date with somebody and all they are interested in is who I saw at work it’s a bit of a red flag.”

During his time on Corrie, Liam rose to fame playing thug Eli Higginson.

His character enthralled fans as he was caught up in a controversial storyline where his character, helped evil Corey Brent to cover up the murder of Seb Franklin who died after a vicious street attack.

The Sun has contacted Liam’s representation for a comment.
