Coronation Street viewers have been stunned after discovering the real age of the actor portraying Jack Webster.

Jack was born on screen in 2010 following an affair between Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) and Molly Dobbs (Vicky Binns). Kevin was married to Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) at the time whilst Molly was also in a relationship with Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall)

Molly gave birth to Jack in 2010 but she tragically lost her life on the cobbles that same year, with Tyrone under the impression Jack was his son. She died after becoming trapped with her son in the shop during the street’s devastating tram crash.

Now portrayed by Kyran Bowes, Jack has featured in several major storylines, including a near-death experience after contracting sepsis which led to life-saving surgery resulting in the removal of his leg.

Moreover, on the long-running ITV soap lately, Jack has been witnessing his dad descend into depression following a difficult 12 months, which began with his cancer diagnosis last year, reports the Mirror.

Subsequently, he was left devastated when wife Abi Webster (Sally Carman) left him for his brother Carl (Jonathan Howard). Additionally, Kevin’s beloved sister Debbie (Sue Devaney) received a dementia diagnosis.

Kevin reached his lowest point this week as Jack temporarily moved out to live with Abi. A distraught and furious Kevin then made his way to the garage roof before Abi successfully persuaded him to come down.

Following his appearance on the soap this week, focus has shifted to the actual ages of both Jack and actor Kyran. Jack was born on 6th September 2010 and is presently 15, whilst Kyran is in fact three years his senior, aged 18. He celebrates his 19th birthday later this year on 28th April.

It’s safe to say viewers have been taken aback by Kyran’s actual age. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person said: “Jack’s only 18 in real life! That’s the trouble when they cast older kids that play younger ones – they grow up beyond years they’re portraying!”.

Another added: “Seriously? WTF? ? ? No way. lol.” A third chimed in: “I was saying last night he looked mature for his role.” Someone else also declared: “He’s 18? !”.

A fifth penned: “Many 15-year-olds look older than they are. He is tall so he looks older. He still has a young face. He is a sensible lad unless he is with Hope. We can have one decent youngster in Corrie.”
