CORRIE BLIMEY EastEnders star from soap’s darkest EVER storyline joins Corrie – and he’s connected to new Rovers Return landlord

AN EastEnders star from the soap’s darkest ever storyline joins Coronation Street – and he’s connected to the new Rovers Return landlord.

Earlier this year, it was revealed Father Ted legend Pauline McLynn, who played scene stealing Mrs Doyle, would be joining the Corrie cast as the new pub landlord.

Pauline plays Maggie Driscoll alongside on-screen son Aaron McCusker’s Ben as they both arrive with his partner Eva Price, played by returning star Catherine Tyldesley.

The clan, which also includes Eva and Ben’s respective children, have taken over the ITV soap’s beloved pub, the Rovers Return.

However, former EastEnders actor Aidan O’Callaghan, 36, is also set to join them as newcomer Alan.

A Cobbles source says: “He is in one episode in flashback scenes, where we find out some of the family history from way back when Ben and his brother were children.

“He’s just a guest artist but it’s a really unique episode.”

We cannot wait to find out more – especially since his EastEnders role made such a huge impact on viewers.

Aiden played the evil Lewis Butler, the dashing new bar manager of The Prince Albert in 2022.

He quickly became friends with Callum Highway and Ben Mitchell, where he mentioned he’d been out and proud since he was thirteen.

Something more than friendship began to develop between Lewis and Ben but Ben wasn’t single, and turned down Lewis’ advances after a night drinking.

In harrowing scenes, Lewis became angry and pinned Ben down and despite Ben saying no Lewis raped Ben.

The next day Ben confronted Lewis, accusing him of rape, but Lewis completely denied it.

However, the truth came out and Kathy fired him and ordered Lewis out of Walford.

Later, when Lewis returned to the square, the Mitchell family kidnapped him and held him at gunpoint.

Ben forced a confession out of Lewis before he let him go and reported him to authorities.

A year later, despite not facing justice for his crime, Ben heard that Lewis had been charged with sexual assault on another man.

But Aiden made history as the first and only Irish actor to appear in both Emmerdale and EastEnders.

And he first hit the soaps in an Emmerdale guest role in 2018 as a character called Mike.

After being introduced to Robert Sudgen in a gay bar, the two hit it off following some encouragement from Vanessa Woodfield.

However, Robert’s guilt got the better of him and he decided against pursuing anything further.

He is currently promoting his new film The Reckoning of Erin Morrigan which is about a former IRA operative faces the ghosts of her past in a final reckoning.
