It’s almost time for Halloween in EastEnders. In the past, the October event has proved dramatic for Walford residents, and things aren’t going to change this year.

Taking centre stage in the spooky lead up will be the Slater clan. Following her return, Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) teamed up with Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) in a bid to find the son she put up for adoption shortly after he was born.

The father of Zoe’s baby is Dennis Rickman, Sharon’s late partner. She only agreed to help because she wants to meet Dennis’ son before Zoe, and prevent her from filling his head with lies.

The problem is though, they both need help from a PI, and it’s proving an expensive commitment.

Recently, Zoe stole money from the pub till to pay for another private investigator, and it didn’t take long for Kat to realise what she had done.

The difficult dynamic between mother and daughter continues soon, as Zoe’s latest revelation plays on Kat Slater’s (Jessie Wallace) mind.

Meanwhile, Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) speaks to Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) about Zoe’s son. He sees how much it means to Sharon, and transfers her some money to help.

As quiz night gets underway in the pub, Kat overhears Vicki talking to Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) and then decides to blurt Zoe’s secret out in the pub, causing major commotion.

Halloween itself gets off to a terrible start, as Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) realises a sewer pipe has leaked in the barrel store. As he cleans it up, he finds a VHS tape from the 1980s.

As the evening begins, Ross arrives with a video player for the video. Kat is intrigued as to what’s on there but changes her mind about playing it, fearing it’ll upset Zoe.

After Zoe discovers a photo frame has broken, she begins to wonder if Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey) is responsible. Outside, he does his best to support her, but ends up offending Zoe in the process.

Later, matters escalate even further when Zoe returns to discover the VHS footage playing. She throws everyone out as a result – but Kat denies playing the tape.

So who did it?

As Halloween night continues, Zoe grows increasingly paranoid that someone is out to get her. After getting accused again, Anthony shares his concerns for Zoe with Kat, but it’s unclear whether she believes him.

Upstairs, Kat eventually decides to watch the VHS tape with Zoe and Tommy (Sonny Kendall) beside her.
