Legendary Action Star, 74, Confirmed as Michelle Pfeiffer’s Co-Star in Taylor Sheridan’s New ‘Yellowstone’ Spin-Off

After about a year of speculation surrounding screen legend Kurt Russell‘s involvement in Taylor Sheridan’s newest Yellowstone spin-off, there has finally been official confirmation. Titled The Madison, the neo-Western series went into production last year with big industry names announced as part of the cast. Among them was Michelle Pfeiffer, who, along with Russell, was in negotiations to join the series in August 2024. Pfeiffer’s role was eventually confirmed, which also involves executive producing the show.

As for the Fast & Furious star’s casting, news just broke that he has officially joined the cast of The Madison, the latest actor to join the Yellowstone universe. The upcoming spin-off’s cast also includes 1923 actor Danielle Vasinova and Y: The Last Man alum Ben Schnetzer, who was cast as “a rancher,” prompting theories about whether he might be playing The Madison’s very own version of Rip Wheeler. Other announced stars are Lost alum Matthew FoxSuits’ Patrick J. AdamsFirefly Lane alum Beau GarrettAmiah Miller, and newcomer Elle Chapman.

Russell is no stranger to Western productions, as even his very first acting role was in the Western TV series The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters at the age of 12. He is also widely known for his leading roles in numerous blockbusters, including the 1982 horror film The Thing, the Western classic Tombstone, and a more recent one, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. His TV credits include the made for TV film Elvis, the animated anthology What If…?, and the Monsterverse series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

What Is Kurt Russell’s Role in ‘The Madison’?

Russell joins The Madison in an unnamed role, as character details are currently being kept under wraps. However, a source says he is set to play the husband of Pfeiffer’s character, Stacy Clyburn, whom the series centers on. Stacy is a wealthy matriarch who moves her family from New York City to Montana in the wake of a life-changing event. Chapman and Garrett play Pfeiffer’s two onscreen daughters: the somewhat self-centered Paige McIntosh and Abigail Reese, the resilient and sardonic New Yorker, who is a recently divorced mother of two. Adams plays Russell McIntosh, Paige’s husband and a young investment banker, while Fox will star opposite Pfeiffer as Paul, “a self-reliant bachelor who loves the outdoors.”
