SHOCKING TRUTH REVEALED!! Jodie’s dark past exposed in early Coronation Street ITVX release

This article contains spoilers for tonight’s (Monday, February 9) Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on YouTube and ITVX.
Ever since she first appeared in Corriedale, soap fans have been intrigued by mysterious Coronation Street newcomer Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown).
Over the past month, we’ve come to learn that she is Shona Platt’s (Julia Goulding) estranged half-sister, though beyond that, we haven’t had much to go on.
Jodie has remained very secretive about why she is back in Shona’s life, and lied to her sister about what brought her to the cobbles.
Viewers know that Jodie escaped the back of Emmerdale villain Graham Foster’s (Andrew Scarborough) van during the pile-up, though we have no idea how or why she ended up there.
Instead of revealing this to Shona, she made up an abusive partner to explain away her bruises. She even went so far as to attend a support group and listen to other women’s experiences, so that she could tell Shona a realistic story.

In tonight’s episode, Shona grew concerned that Jodie was sneaking off to meet with a man. Horrified at the possibility that it could be serial cheat Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard), Shona followed her sister.
She was shocked when they arrived at their destination, and Shona discovered that Jodie was visiting their dad in a care home.
Shona hadn’t seen their dad since she left home, and was stunned to find that he was in ill health.
Jodie assured her that he was having a bad day before finally opening up about how she’d been caring for him until it became too difficult for her to handle alone.
When Jodie attempted to introduce Shona to their dad, he grew distressed and started shouting about how Jodie was a liar and that ‘it wasn’t right’.

Once Jodie had ushered Shona out, Shona admitted that she wished she’d been there to help her, to which her little sister confessed that she felt the same, especially as she cared about Shona so much.
When Jodie said goodbye to their dad, it became clear that perhaps there was more to the story than she’d let on, as she warned him not to mess things up for her with Shona.
The atmosphere turned sinister when Jodie reminded him that things hadn’t worked out well for him when they’d fallen out in the past.
