BIG MOVE AHEAD!! Coronation Street fans left ‘screaming’ as soap makes Disney+ debut in landmark streaming deal – quipping ‘does this make Gail Platt a princess?!’

Coronation Street fans shared their surprise as a landmark streaming deal saw the programme debut on Disney+.

The beloved soap is now streaming on the global platform – but with key distinctions to bear in mind.

Namely, the available episodes only go back a few weeks, to January 26, 2026.

Corrie’s Disney+ streaming schedule is also a week behind ITVX, with installments dropping on Fridays in groups of five.

Taking to social media, gobsmacked viewers revealed their shock over Coronation Street’s huge new step.

One wrote on X: ‘Now that corrie is on disney + do you think they’ll be building the rovers at disneyland.’

ITV and Disney announced the ‘A Taste Of’ initiative back in summer 2025, – which sees each streamer feature a curated selection of the other’s programming.

Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of Media and Entertainment at ITV, said at the time: ‘Disney are fantastic partners with a brilliant breadth of content.

‘This mutually beneficial alliance allows us to show our complementary audiences a specially selected collection of titles, regularly updating, that gives a flavour of the range in our respective offerings.

‘For us, this deal means even more great content for viewers on ITVX, and even more opportunity for viewers to find and enjoy our distinctive titles and services.’

It comes as fans were previously shocked by Coronation Street’s ‘crossover’ with a Disney+ show.

Wonder Man is the latest television series set in the expansive, ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fans of both shows were shocked when Corrie got an unexpected mention in the eight-part Disney+ show.

It hinged on the character Trevor Slattery, who is portrayed by the legendary Sir Ben Kingsley.

Fictitious actor Trevor is a familiar presence within the Marvel world, having previously appeared in Iron Man 3 and The Legend Of The Ten Rings.

During the conversation, Simon discovers a collection of tapes marked ‘Coronation Street, episodes 616 – 619, 646 – 649.’

Trevor reveals he had appeared in those episodes of the soap, as a character named Ron Jenkins.

He even recalls one of his old lines, saying: ‘A pint of bitter please and one for my friend.’

In reality, Sir Ben did indeed appear in Coronation Street as a character named Ron Jenkins – in those specified episodes.

It means the long-running soap is now officially established as existing within the Marvel world.
