FORMER Emmerdale actress Gemma Oaten has confirmed that she has split from her latest boyfriend as she reveals she’s single.

The star, who played Rachel Breckle on the ITV soap opera, has regularly been open about her personal life and the ups and downs of her relationship.

She took to Instagram to share a video in which she opened up on being “single but happy”.

Joking that she has “breaking news” online, she wrote: “I am single. DOUBLE BREAKING NEWS: I’m actually quite happy to be so.”

Gemma went on to share a lengthy post about how she is feeling now she is no longer in a relationship.

The actress has never appeared to publicly reveal her latest partner.

Writing on Instagram about the romance, Gemma said: “Seriously though… there’s a specific kind of heaviness that comes with feeling lonely in a relationship. It’s a weight you don’t have to carry anymore.

​”Don’t get me wrong, my heart is not closed.

“Anybody who knows me knows that I am such an open book—hence why I probably get hurt a lot! But I really want to try and normalise the conversation that you don’t have to be in a relationship.”

Gemma then continued: “​Sometimes life doesn’t work out the way you thought it ‘had’ to, and you realise that being solo is actually the best route for you and your mental health right now

“It’s not a waiting room; it’s a destination. I’m doing more than okay; I’m thriving.”

Gemma has had a rather colourful love life.

The soap star’s most high-profile romance was with DIY SOS star Nick Knowles.

The couple enjoyed a high-profile fling in September 2016 after meeting at the TV Choice Awards.

It saw them quickly hit it off and they enjoyed a getaway to Edinburgh but the romance fizzled out soon after.

She previously dated aspiring actor Andy Barnes in 2014 before dating producer Scott Walker for just over a year.

In recent years, she has often kept the identity of her latest partners a secret following high-levels of interest in her past relationships.
