CORRIE BLIMEY Corrie star in shock appearance at Critics’ Choice Awards 8 months after soap death and reinvents herself as ‘momager’
A CORONATION Street favourite has stunned fans by appearing at the glitzy Critics’ Choice Awards in the US after quitting the ITV soap.
The ITV actress, 52, has now switched focus, away from her own on-screen career to that of her two sons.




And after her young actor sons Noah Jupe, 20, and his little brother Jacobi, 12 bagged roles in the highly-acclaimed Hamnet movie, it meant Katy Cavanagh and her family headed Stateside.
Katy is best known for playing Corrie‘s Julie Carp – with her bubbly character making a shock soap comeback last year after quitting the ITV show in 2015.
Yet snaps from the Critics Choice show her Weatherfield character’s signature blonde locks switched for a brunette shade as she posed proudly with her sons.

Her lads scooped huge roles in director Chloe Zhao’s flick, with Jacobi in the title role and Noah playing an actor performing Hamlet.
Katy and Jacobi headed to the Critic’s Choice, while both of her kids are expected to appear the Golden Globes tonight.
A source has told MailOnline of her off-camera role and said: “She’s put everything into helping the boys have the best start in the industry.
“She’s put her own career on the back burner to help them realise their dreams.
“Obviously she’s not known in Hollywood, so it’s not like her name has particularly opened doors for them, but she’s got them into the industry and is constantly helping them.”
Katy’s eldest has previously starred in A Quiet Place films opposite Emily Blunt, The Undoing with Nicole Kidman and Franklin alongside Michael Douglas.

Fans of the latter movie were particularly surprised to learn that his mum was a high profile UK soap star.

At the age of 19, he teamed up with his mum and dad Chris Jupe, to launch a production company to make their own films.
And part of it has seen Katy turn her hand to screenwriting.
The star has penned a script for a psychological thriller described as a cross between The Beach and The Talented Mr Ripley.
The beloved British soap has been captivating audiences for decades.
A source said: “Katy’s not only a Corrie icon but a hugely talented writer.
“Teaming up with her producer husband and Hollywood superstar son is a no brainer.
“The sky’s the limit for them.”
