Yellowstone fans are on the edge of their seats as news of the expanded universe steadily flows into their feeds. While we’ve heard murmurings of prequels and sequels for a couple of years, now that the 2025 fall television schedule is upon us, more details are emerging. The latest tidbit? Kurt Russell is joining the Yellowstone universe, albeit beyond the Dutton saga. Keep reading for what we know so far.

Kurt Russell Joins the Cast of The Madison

The Madison is a modern-day Yellowstone spin-off starring Michelle Pfeiffer. While the show doesn’t have a premiere date just yet, more cast members are being announced in the meantime, with Kurt Russell being the most recent to join Beau Garrett, Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, and Amiah Miller, among others, according to Deadline.

The Madison, while part of the Taylor Sheridan universe, will not follow the Dutton family. Instead, the series will tell the story of a New York family navigating grief while vacationing in rural Montana.

Kurt and Michelle shared the screen before in the 1988 movie Tequila Sunrise.

What Else Is Happening in the Yellowstone Universe?

Beyond The MadisonYellowstone and Taylor Sheridan fans can look forward to sequels Y: Marshals (starring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton) and Dutton Ranch (starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler), as well as the prequel 1944, all of which are expected in 2026. That said, only Y: Marshals has released an official trailer, noting that the series is coming soon to CBS. Which is all to say, it might still be a while before we get our Dutton/Montana fix. Thankfully, other Taylor Sheridan shows are on the calendar, including Landman, which returns to Paramount+ with Season 2 on Sunday, November 16.
