Sister Wives: Robyn and Kody could be on the verge of divorce
Longtime followers of Sister Wives will know that, while patriarch Kody Brown once had four wives, now he’s just down to one. The reality TV star and former polygamist remains married only to his youngest wife, Robyn.
Even then, however, the two still face some marriage troubles. In the most recent episode of the TLC show, Robyn and Kody opened up to the cameras about how their union had been on the rocks in a major way.
Robyn Says Kody’s Divorces Took A Toll
In an emotional moment talking to the cameras, Robyn explained that Kody’s mood had shifted ever since the other wives had begun to leave him a few years ago. The first official separation happened in 2021, and the others followed shortly thereafter.
Robyn explained that things with her husband had been up and down for a while, and that the dark moments were especially dark:
We go through these periods where he is back to himself and we are like who we usually are in our relationship and it’s really beautiful, and we’re having a great time, and then something will happen and he’s kind of back to… He reverts back to the angry divorced guy.
By his own admission, Kody confessed to the cameras that there were moments he and Robyn were “fighting for [their] marriage.” He added that the divorces had also put a strain on his relationship with many of his children, and that the situation felt like not just a divorce, but also “more of breakup with the family” as a whole.
Despite the stress on their relationship, however, Kody and Robyn confirmed that they currently do not have plans of splitting up.
Kody Apologized To Robyn For His Past Behavior
Much of this season has focused on Kody’s “apology tour,” where he visits his exes and apologizes for treating them poorly in the past. In the latest episode, Kody realized that the tour hadn’t included Robyn, when perhaps it should’ve:
I haven’t been very fair with you. I’ve been apologizing to everybody in spite of all how brutal they were, but you were never brutal. You were never unkind. You were never disloyal. I’ve been apologizing to everybody. I think I owe you an apology most of all… I apologize for not trusting you, but you have my trust.
Despite calling the years of divorces a “toxic time,” Robyn ultimately said she trusted Kody as well. “Taking accountability for his part in the marriages falling apart, I think, was something that gave him some peace, and it’ll help in his healing,” she told the cameras. “I also just see him just kind of taking a sigh of relief,” she added.
