Emmerdale lines up Joe’s vicious blackmail over John’s death
Emmerdale’s Joe Tate is set to embark on a vicious blackmail plot over the death of killer John Sugden.
John met his end in the woods during the Corriedale crossover but it was Tuesday’s (6 January) follow-up episode of Emmerdale that revealed Victoria Sugden to be the killer.
Victoria had found her brother John in the woods and, after a struggle, stabbed him in the neck with a syringe full of drugs, causing him to convulse on the ground and die.
Covering her tracks, Victoria wiped down the syringe and placed it in John’s hand, making his death look like a suicide.

Unbeknownst to Victoria, Joe was in the woods that night and managed to record Victoria’s guilty actions on his phone.
Victoria has already confessed to Robert and Aaron that she killed John, but she has no idea that Joe knows the truth.
Now, Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw, has revealed that Victoria’s dark secret won’t stay hidden for long and Joe is about to make the Sugdens pay for his silence.
Shaw teased: “The truth about John’s death will be revealed, as Victoria’s clever deception, making John’s death look like suicide, will unravel.
“Evil Joe Tate knows the truth and has damning video evidence which he plans to use to get what he wants from the Sugdens, potentially taking control of Butler’s Farm.

“Robert is also in the thick of it, trying to save Victoria by planting evidence.”
Meanwhile, Joe will have plenty else to deal with in upcoming episodes as Corriedale also saw the return of Graham Foster from beyond the grave.
While Joe was in hospital following the crash, Graham was seen looking in on his former boss, who may have thought he’d seen a ghost.
Following the episode’s airing, ITV soap boss Iain MacLeod has promised that Graham’s return will have will have big repercussions beyond the crossover episode.
