EMMERDALE’s John Sugden is officially dead after Corriedale with details of his death now being uncovered.

In the episode following the epic ITV crossover, fans discovered just exactly how John met his downfall and the major new twist that could tear the Sugden family apart.

During the hour-long soap crossover, Corriedale viewers saw how the episode ended with John’s lifeless body being seen in the woods where he had earlier had confrontations with Kit Green, Robert Sugden and Cain Dingle.

But in a shocking twist, as residents of the Dales and the Cobbles dealt with the fallout from the crash – Victoria could be seen standing over John’s body after killing him.

In today’s episode, Victoria confessed to Robert and Aaron that she was indeed John’s killer but all was still not as it seemed.

Fans will recall how John attempted to drug Victoria with new flashback scenes confirming he did indeed inject her.

He also attempted to drug her young son Harry by slipping poison in his chocolate milk but he didn’t drink it.

As Victoria lay unconscious, she recalled to Robert and Aaron how a knock at the door from Matty – to inform her of the crash – woke her up.

Fearing for John’s involvement, Victoria left Harry with Matty and set off to the scene of the accident.

She revealed she followed Robert and Cain into the woods and heard the gun went off – but was unable to see who had been shot.

Unsure what to do, she found herself alone in the woods and eventually came face-to-face with John.

During an emotional and tense exchange, John begged Victoria to let him go and not send him to prison but she barked back: “It is what you deserve!

As John questioned if she could send her own brother to prison, Victoria insisted he wasn’t her brother before a violent scuffle broke out between the two of them.

With John’s shotgun once again in play, the pair wrestled and tumbles before John managed to pin Victoria to the ground and begin to strangle her.

During the scuffle, Victoria managed to get one of John’s injections from his pocket and stab it straight into his neck in a bid to make him unconscious so she could escape.

However, John instantly began fitting and was soon dead on the ground.

As she told the story to Aaron and Robert, they exchanged a look which appeared to signal they knew why the injection killed John.

Prior to the incident, John handed Aaron a lethal injection and insisted that Aaron kill Robert with it to be free of him forever.

It appeared that Victoria used that injection which led to John’s death.

She later told Robert and Aaron that she did not touch the gun and wiped down the syringe before placing it in John’s hand in a bid to make it look like a suicide.

She then ran off but in yet another twist, the murder and Victoria’s cover-up was witnessed by another Dales resident.

Lurking in the shadows, Joe Tate appeared to watch the whole thing unfold as he snapped photos on his phone which saw Victoria with John’s body and covering her tracks.

With Robert having already promised Joe he would do whatever he wanted him to in exchange for a lift to the crash scene, could Joe be about to take these demands to the next level thanks to his evidence of Victoria’s murder?
