CORONATION Street fans have been left gobsmacked as Steve McDonald appeared to recognise a face from the past in a hilarious Corriedale scene.

In the scenes, Coronation Street‘s Steve McDonald could be seen appearing to recognise one of the van drivers who was waiting in his car following the multiple vehicle pile-up.

The man in question was Emmerdale‘s Jai Sharma – played by actor Chris Bisson.

Jai was on his way back from Manchester having been instructed by boss Caleb Milligan to do more driving runs as part of their business operation.

However, the scene proved monumental as Steve appeared to clock that it was his old StreetCars colleague, Vikram Desai.

Chris played Vikram between 1999 and 2002 before eventually joining Emmerdale as Jai in 2009.

As Steve walked toward an ambulance alongside his partner, Cassie, he could be seen pulling a shocked face as he said: “No?”

Stopped in his tracks, he could be seen looking directly at Jai’s van before being moved on by a paramedic.

Cassie said to him: “Are you okay?”

Still shaken by the events of the crash, Steve quickly brushed it off, replying: “I just thought I saw someone who I used to work with but it can’t be.

“It doesn’t matter.”

Emmerdale and Coronation Street stars KILLED OFF in dramatic Corriedale crossover as dead character makes shock comeback

The interaction was never mentioned again – though it’s likely to spark some speculation if Jai and Vikram could be one and the same in yet another bombshell twist.

Jai’s role in the episode revealed that his van contained the corpse of Ray Walters who was seemingly murdered at the start of the Emmerdale episode and later put into the back of Jai’s van.

He appeared to be none the wiser that he was transporting a dead body.

Picking up on the moment, one fan said online: “Fair play #corriedale for the Steve/Vikram/Jai nod to having Chris Bisson having appeared in both soaps.”

Another added: “Hilarious when Steve recognised Jai/ Vikram -lol. Nice comedy moment!”

A third suggested it could be the catalyst for a future crossover, writing: “Steve saying ‘He looks like someone i used to work with’ about Jai. One of several nice little Easter eggs, and room for further cross overs between some of the characters. Fantastic episode!#corriedale.”

Before a fourth added: “A brilliant moment when Steve McDonald spotted Jai/Vikram in the van on #Corriedale.”
