Coronation Street is set to air some heartbreaking scenes for Shona Platt, who suffers a health scare on New Year’s Day.

Shona expects a baby with husband David. After the devastating discovery that their unborn child has a tumour, Shona learnt she’d have to undergo a complicated, high-risk surgery if she wanted to carry the pregnancy to full term.

In upcoming scenes, Shona puts away the Christmas decorations on New Year’s Day.

While suffering a twinge, she worryingly struggles to draw breath. A concerned David insists she’ll need to be checked out and takes her to the hospital.

Will Shona and the baby be alright?

Shona is one of the Corrie characters who are crossing paths with Emmerdale stars in the hotly-anticipated special Corriedale, seeing actors from both soaps involved in a huge storyline.

It was previously confirmed that Corrie’s Lisa Swain and Emmerdale‘s Aaron Dingle would join the soap event, with Corrie‘s David Platt and Tracy Barlow also crossing over together with Emmerdale‘s Liam Cavanagh.

In a new trailer for Corriedale, new characters have been shown for the big story which will see multiple people being involved in a vehicle crash. Shona is set to appear in the crossover with Corrie‘s Kit Green, James Bailey, Asha Alahan, Carla Connor, Kevin Webster, and Abi Webster, who all making their way from Weatherfield to be involved.

From the Dales are Cain Dingle, Sarah Sugden, Charity Dingle, Jacob Gallagher, Robert Sugden and Joe Tate.
