Now that Johnny’s trial is behind him, Chanel is ready to move forward on Days of our Lives. The couple’s attempt to adopt Sophia and Tate’s baby fell apart thanks to EJ’s shady reputation, but Chanel hasn’t lost sight of her dream of motherhood. With Johnny cleared, she’s eager to start fresh and revisit adoption — but the path ahead may not be smooth. In a new interview, Raven Bowens warned that her character’s journey with Johnny will continue to be a roller coaster, with twists tied to Baby Tesoro and his foster dads, Leo and Javi.

Chanel Wants a Family

“That whole case put a pause on their life,” Bowens explained to Woman’s World. “And they’re a newly married couple, so Chanel is very interested in starting a family and taking those next steps.” She felt that she and Johnny (Carson Boatman) now have some breathing space and can move forward with their life plans. The actress said that Chanel is determined to dive back into family planning, but Salem is rarely the place for peaceful beginnings.

Complicating matters is the fact that Leo (Greg Rikaart) and Javi (Al Calderon) also want to keep and adopt Baby Tesoro — and they’re not exactly known for playing fair. Even worse, no one realizes this is the same child Johnny and Chanel once tried to adopt. Brady (Eric Martsolf) is starting to put the pieces together about Sophia (Rachel Boyd) and Tesoro, and it’s only a matter of time before the secret explodes.

A Bumpy Road Ahead

Bowens is excited for viewers to see how Johnny and Chanel’s adoption story progresses. However, her gratification will be delayed because the show shoots so far in advance of episodes airing. She lamented, “It will be almost another year before you’ll get to see it!” But then she added, “I’m loving it, and some of the stuff we have coming is really good for Johnny and Chanel, as well.”

Bowens embraced the chaos in Salem and felt that working with Boatman as her scene partner has been a blessing. Bowens promised that what’s coming will test the couple like never before, with Leo and Javi in the running to adopt. “Oh, it’s going to get even bumpier…and then it might seem like it starts to get better,” she remarked, adding, “and then it gets bumpier again. It’s definitely a roller coaster!”
