SO SAD Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent breaks down in tears as she reveals heartbreaking family loss
CORONATION STREET star Brooke Vincent broke down in tears as she opened up about a heartbreaking family loss.
The actress, 33, who played Sophie Webster for 15 years, spoke about the devastating grief she’s been grappling with after losing her nan last year.
She revealed her family’s life was “turned upside down” following the tragic loss, and admitted she’s still struggling to come to terms with it, though gradually finding her way through.
Brooke made the revelations during an episode of the Live, Laugh, Luke podcast, where she became emotional while talking about her loss.
She explained: “I feel I’m at a stage where I can talk without feeling like someone’s punched me in the throat.
“For a long time I felt like someone was punching me in the throat whenever I spoke about it. It comes on to you at the most random times,”

“I struggle with it. My nana, she probably would be proud, but I don’t feel like I’m taking her proudness from you.
“I think when you lose somebody who is that close to you, you just feel ‘f*** everything else’ because nothing will hurt me as much as this.”
Her grandma Joan died on October 5 last year.
She explained: “It’s so hard. Luckily for me I had the kids. I wasn’t allowed to lie in bed and cry because I had to get up and take them to school and mask it a little bit.
“But what I did do, if I was in the house on my own I’d just put my nana’s song on and think about her and force myself to cry and get it out.

“Because I wanted there to be a time when I’m drunk, when I’m sober and her song will come on and it doesn’t feel like someone has punched me in the throat.”
Brooke played Sophie Webster on the ITV soap opera from 2004 until 2019 when she quit the role after welcoming her 1st child.
Earlier this year, the star confessed she would “love” to come back to the programme as Sophie and now she had dropped an even bigger hint that a show comeback could be in the works.
Brooke reunited with all of the show’s current cast at an exclusive leaving bash for Colson Smith after he was axed from his role as Craig Tinker on the programme.
Whilst Colson has worked with countless stars past and present during his time in Weatherfield, Brooke was the only former member of the cast to join the group on the night out which raised eyebrows among soap.
Taking to Instagram, Brooke shared a snap from inside the party as she posed with Colson.
The actress fuelled even more rumours of a comeback as she captioned the image: “A million memories together, my work little/ big brother, I adore you, I am so excited for your next adventure.
