EastEnders‘ Jean Slater is going to make another rash decision as her mental health storyline continues to escalate in scenes set to air next week (specifically next Tuesday, 9 December). Jean has lived with bipolar disorder all her life, and sometimes has manic episodes. Since Stacey left in October to live in South America, her mental health has been deteriorating.

Jean’s granddaughter Lily has been concerned about Jean, especially after learning she’s been the one who’s been threatening Zoe with nasty messages.

She even tried to book a GP appointment with Dr Anthony Trueman and suggested therapy, but Jean refused, insisting she’s taking her medication and that’s enough.

In scenes set to air next week, Lily’s concern for Jean grows and she decides to host a Branning family dinner at No.31.

However, when the topic of Stacey comes up, Jean makes a quick exit. Just how bad will things get for her?

Meanwhile, the soap recently revealed that Dr Trueman has been trying to manipulate events so he can have Zoe all to himself, and that his wife has taken out a restraining order against him.

Next week will also see the return of Sam Mitchell. Early spoilers have already revealed that not only is she dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis, but she’s also desperate for some cash again.

She’ll take advantage of poor Nigel Bates and his dementia in order to get away with her latest scheme, while she also has another clash with Zoe.
