Coronation Street‘s Todd Grimshaw makes a worrying new promise tonight, as evil Theo Silverton fears that he’s in danger of losing his obsessive control in their relationship. When it seems that there’s hope of Todd reconciling with his friends George Shuttleworth and Christina Boyd, abusive Theo has other ideas.

In new scenes tonight, Todd is forced to announce that he’s “back from London” – another of Theo’s lies – after Dev Alahan finds him at the flat. He quickly makes excuses for his facial injury, claiming that it was the result of a drunken afternoon during his trip away.

With Todd no longer under pressure to hide, Theo forces him to resume his strict fitness regime with a 10k run. However, Christina soon spots Todd in agony and invites him in for a cup of tea, promising that George won’t be around. Theo witnesses their exchange and fears the worst…

Once they’re inside, Christina plays peacemaker by telling Todd how much George misses him. She even encourages Todd to try getting his job back at the funeral parlour so things can return to normal.

As Todd continues to make excuses for his injury, Christina is clearly concerned – but has she realised something is amiss?

Later, back at the flat, Todd is faced with further abusive behaviour as Theo berates him for spending time with Christina against his wishes.

Responding to Christina’s show of kindness, Theo complains: “I bet George put her up to it. You know, he puts on this bumbling façade, but I see right through it. He’s actually pretty manipulative.

“You know, you’re better off without people like that in your life.”

Todd promises that he won’t spend time with Christina or George anymore – much like he’s already cut out Billy Mayhew due to Theo’s paranoia.

Theo also recently encouraged Todd to end his long friendship with Sarah Barlow, determined to isolate him from all sources of support. With Theo’s control escalating, it seems that Todd’s ordeal is set to get worse…
