It’s Time For A Change In Salem

There appears to be a shortage of couples in Salem at the moment. Those who are working include Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Steve (Stephen Nichols), Javi (Al Calderon), Leo (Greg Rikaart), Roman (Josh Taylor), Kate (Lauren Koslow), Johnny (Carson Boatman), and Chanel (Raven Bowens).

Even Paulina (Jackée Harry) and Abe (James Reynolds), with their problems, still have us rooting for them. However, that doesn’t leave too many other couples in Salem, especially since Xander (Paul Telfer) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) called it quits again.

Fans Aren’t Shipping

One Reddit thread asked fans to name their worst couples in Salem, and the answers were on point.

“Tate and Holly. Super boring,” replied a fan. Those two were named more than once on the Reddit thread.

Holly (Ashley Puzemis) and Tate (Leo Howard) have been dullsville from the jump. In fact, Holly had way more chemistry with Doug (Peyton Meyer). DAYS writers, though, continue to double down on making Brady’s (Eric Martsolf) son and Nicole’s (Arianne Zucker) daughter some kind of legacy couple. It’s not working at all.

“Stephanie and Alex, by a mile and a half. They feel so forced—almost like they want to keep both actors on the show so they just put them together so they’d have something to do,” said a different fan.

Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) and Stephanie (Abigail Klein) were brought up multiple times. We have to agree that the “it” factor isn’t there with those two, and this is the second time they have been paired together. Nothing against Klein or Wilson either, as both are amazing, but something is missing with this Stephanie and Alex pairing.

Interestingly enough, the Reddit thread also listed Chanel and Johnny, as well as Kate and Roman, among the worst couples on the Peacock soap.

“Might be an unpopular opinion, but Chanel and Johnny. I just don’t know why they’re in such a rush to start a family,” declared one fan.

Another fan expressed, “I think Roman and Kate. No chemistry, never was, even in the beginning. They very seldom show any affection for each other, in fact, when they do kiss it’s so awkward. I know they are not front storyline, but you just don’t see them enjoying each other’s company. Too forced imo.”

Justin (Wally Kurth) and Bonnie (Judi Evans) also made the cut. One fan felt the pairing was forced because the writers wanted Evans and Kurth together after the show killed off Adrienne (Judi Evans).
