COBBLES CHANGES Coronation Street’s Rovers Return’s REAL new owner revealed – as comedy icon Pauline McLynn breaks silence
THE real new owner of Coronation Street’s iconic Rovers Return has been revealed – with actress Pauline McLynn breaking her silence.
Earlier this year, it was revealed Father Ted legend Pauline, who played scene stealing Mrs Doyle, would be joining the Corrie cast.

She is portraying Maggie Driscoll alongside on-screen son Aaron McCusker’s Ben as they both arrive with his partner Eva Price, played by returning star Catherine Tyldesley.
The clan, which also includes Eva and Ben’s respective children, are taking over the ITV soap’s beloved pub, the Rovers Return.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Pauline revealed who is really in charge in the legendary establishment.
She said: “Maggie likes to throw in the most outrageous things just to see how far she can go.

“But often that line has been long passed! And she’ll say, ‘What’s the fuss about? You’re a bit touchy, aren’t you?’
“If you’re a certain age my might feel you have a certain licence to act badly, you know? Because you’re the Mammy.
“And, of course, she has that thing she can hold over all the family, and she uses that like a blunt instrument: ‘You’re only here because of my money. I own the place – you just work in it.’
“Which is a hard one for anyone to get over.”

Teasing Maggie’s dynamic with Eva, Pauline revealed: “Cath was right when she said that in another life Eva and Maggie would get on like a house on fire – if it weren’t for Eva being with one of Maggie’s beloved sons.
“She has two sons – I haven’t met the other one yet, but I know he exists!

“Depending on what story needs to be told, we may meet him, we may not.
“But that’s the brilliant thing about Corrie: families, communities, all the politics of it.
“Watching that episode, seeing how all the stories intertwine in a community, I thought, ‘This is so great. I hope we’ve pulled our socks up enough to fit right in.’
“It’s a real privilege to be allowed to tell these stories.
Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks said previously: “We are beyond thrilled that Eva is returning as the landlady of the Rovers, with her new blended family in tow.
“The Driscolls do not arrive quietly, so expect big drama, explosive secrets and raucous knees ups galore.

“To have actors of Catherine, Aaron and Pauline’s considerable calibre at the beating heart of this family is absolutely wonderful, and we can’t wait for you to get to know and fall in love with them as much as we have already done.
“Strap yourselves in, it’s going to be an exciting and eventful ride.”
