Tonight’s Coronation Street confirms a disappointing update for Team Toyah viewers, following a surprise proposal from Nick Tilsley. With Leanne Battersby still furious about their affair, it seems the controversial couple won’t be tying the knot any time soon.

Monday’s episode opens with the arrival of former barmaid Eva Price, who has returned as the new landlady of The Rovers. When Eva removes her blindfold, her husband Ben reveals he has bought the pub for her.

It doesn’t take long for the news of Eva’s return to spread around the Street and she receives a warm welcome from her sister Leanne. As the pair catch up over drinks, Eva insists they invite Toyah to join them.

“I just think the three of us need to sit down and sort things out,” she says.

Meanwhile, at the Bistro, a giddy Nick ushers Toyah into the office where he presents her with an engagement ring. However, the proposal is interrupted by Leanne, who is heartbroken to see her ex on bended knee.

“Eva thought that we could patch things up,” she says in disbelief. “I must be off my head.”

As Nick and Leanne squabble, Toyah tries to keep the peace. But an incensed Leanne throws a glass of champagne in their faces and abruptly leaves.

Nick then pushes Toyah for an answer to his question but she is distracted by the thought of Leanne and Eva “planning and plotting” against her. She brushes him off in a bid to confront her sisters.

At the Rovers, the three women share a fiery reunion before Eva kicks her customers out so they can resolve their issues “once and for all”. Alone in the pub, the frosty atmosphere thaws and Eva points out that Nick is the reason they’ve all fallen out with each other in the past.

Later, Toyah returns to the Bistro where she tells a disappointed Nick that she doesn’t want to get married. She assures him that she loves him and doesn’t need a ring to prove it.
