General Hospital’s Rena Sofer Out as Lois. That’s all she wrote for #GH’s Lois. Rena Sofer said goodbye along with her character. Here’s all we know about her chances of booking a return engagement:
That’s all she wrote for Rena Sofer… at least for the foreseeable future. When in the October 24 episode of General Hospital (recapped here), Lois said a bittersweet so long to daughter Brook Lynn and took off for South Korea to take over as Blaze’s tour manager, the Emmy winner also bid adieu to the role that she originated back in 1993, Soap Opera Digest reports. As Sofer’s Bold & Beautiful involvement as pot-stirrer Quinn waned in 2022, she took her leave. “It’s hard enough to be on a soap opera when you don’t have a story,” she said at the time, “but to come back in a recurring role to a show that you were fully invested in as a daily player would not be a comfortable place for me.
“That,” she added, “is not a step in the direction I want to go.”

In 2023, Sofer brought Lois home to General Hospital (following a brief attempt at recasting the part in the mid-2000s). Soon, the character was embroiled in the retcon of Brook Lynn’s backstory that involved her having secretly given birth to Dante’s son Gio back in their summer-camp days.

This past summer, Sofer announced that she and husband Sanford Bookstaver were leaving the West Coast and moving East. “Thank you, L.A., for being you. And now on to quieter and calmer times,” she wrote on Instagram.
Though Lois is gone, she may not be gone for good. Digest says that an insider noted “the door is always open” for Sofer to come back.
