The episode opened with Robert at Kev’s hospital bedside following his heart attack, with Kev revealing that he expects to be discharged the following day.

Robert then visited a tense Aaron to explain that Kev saved him from vicious prison thugs, only to be brutally stabbed himself as revenge.

“At the time, I didn’t think either of us would be getting out. I certainly didn’t think I’d be seeing you again,” he told Aaron. “So when [Kev] asked me if he survived if I’d marry him, I said yeah.

“I love him, but I’m not in love with him. I love you. I know you love me too.”

With Robert insisting that he needed “more time” before leaving Kev, it proved to be the last straw for Aaron.

“I honestly don’t wanna see you ever again,” he said, and proceeded to get drunk at The Woolpack.

When Robert found him drowning his sorrows and getting more and more irritable with everyone around him, things got even worse.

“Do you have any idea how difficult it’s been, trying to protect everyone else from getting hurt?” he told Aaron. “I’ve got Vic, I’ve got Kev, I’ve got you. I’m looking out for everyone except for myself.”

Aaron spat back: “Poor little Robert. Why don’t you just go back to your weird little marriage? Because I’m sure Kev will be there waiting for you with open arms and a big fat paycheque.”

Calling back to Robert’s explanation of how he and Kev got together, Aaron added: “You are that weak and pathetic that you had to marry the resident psycho just so you had a bit of protection.”

With Victoria and Paddy overhearing, Robert fought fire with fire and threw Aaron’s recent drama with supervillain ex John back in his face; implying that Aaron wasn’t so oblivious about his crimes.

“Oh, sorry, I forgot – you didn’t know,” he said sarcastically, prompting Aaron to lunge for him. “I’m only saying what everyone else is thinking,” he went on.

Aaron growled: “I never ever thought I could hate anybody as much as I hate you right now.

“So from now on, you stay out of my life for good. Do you understand?”

With Robert left rattled, is there any hope on the horizon for them to work it out? And what’ll happen when Kev gets out of hospital?
