A champion boxer with a big heart, George is joined by daughters Anna and Gina (Molly Rainford and Francesca Henry) as they leave their lives in Marbella behind to move in with George’s partner Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe).

With a series of James Bond films and countless other Hollywood roles under his belt, Colin revealed that this role in EastEnders came at exactly the right time for him, and explained how show boss Chris Clenshaw drew him to the part.

‘My agent said “I think you should talk to Chris,” so I did. He was passionate, clear, progressive, and had a vision and a clear love for the show and the people who watch it.

‘I find that to be the requisite for any job, we give 100%. To have somebody like that guiding us is really important.’

As well as a passionate boss, Colin also reflected on the location of the studios, and his own links to the East End.

‘My wife is not well so I can’t be far from home, so the universe has brought something quite extraordinary,’ Colin poignantly revealed.

‘I was born in Clapton Pond, I’m an EastEnder and it was a big show for us growing up and everybody I’ve told is getting really excited. It was a no brainer!

‘The universe has been really kind. It’s a different genre, and I like working hard. I’m happy.’

Since joining the show, Colin has worked closely with his new family, the Knights, and has had a blast doing so.

‘As an actor, working with this group has been a joy, we’ve created a family. ‘

However, there is one cast member in their midst who is an EastEnders stalwart, having led the Carter clan for almost ten years as Linda Carter.

‘Thanks to Kellie Bright for being such an important compatriot and ally,’ Colin praised her.

‘We can hang out and chat but she has a real work ethic to crack on and do this, and get up to speed which has been a joy.’

Overall, it sounds like Colin is having a ball in his new role.

‘It’s been a bit scary but we’re having a good time.’
