Todd and Theo’s relationship has been strained in recent weeks, with the latter showing signs of coercive control and an abusive streak as he attempted to keep Todd away from his good friend Billy.

Friday’s (10 October) episode began with Theo preparing for the funeral of Noah Hedley, with the character asking Todd if he could be there to support. Todd said he was unavailable as George had booked two funerals, though this was a lie.

As they headed to the café, Todd urged George to keep up the ruse, though Theo had already begun grilling everybody involved. Todd headed to the hospital with Billy as he underwent a health check.

Todd and Billy went back to the Rovers after their visit from the hospital, with Theo walking in at an inopportune moment. He not-so-subtly grilled the pair, but Todd evaded the subject.

Knowing that Theo’s mood was worsening, Todd took George up on his offer of a double date with Christina Boyd at the bistro. Billy was also at the bar, but Todd was stunned after Theo welcomed him over.

It soon became apparent that Theo was using this as a makeshift interrogation, with the same question being repeated. After Christina made one too many barbs at Theo’s controlling nature, Todd and his partner left.

As they returned home, Theo shared that he was excited by Todd sticking up for him, but the mood soon soured as he saw that Billy had texted Todd – what will Theo plan next for the pair?

Todd and Theo aren’t the only couple to be going through a rough patch in Weatherfield, with Carla Connor and Lisa Swain hitting some rocky ground following the arrival of the latter’s wife, Becky.

Speaking amid the dramatic storyline, Amy Cudden – who portrays Becky – shared that her character will attempt to drive a wedge between Carla and Lisa, though she may have her work cut out.

“It’s a threat, but if you look at the person that’s being threatened – we’re talking about Carla Connor! They don’t come tougher,” said the actor. “We get this really, really fun tension between two very determined women fighting over the same love.”
