BIG MOVE AHEAD!!! EastEnders’ Heather Peace celebrates “beautiful” turning point in cancer journey
EastEnders‘ Heather Peace has celebrated a “beautiful” turning point in her cancer journey.
The actor, who plays Eve Panesar-Unwin on the soap, was diagnosed with breast cancer last October. She underwent surgery and recovery in the following months, before completing her chemotherapy treatment this May.
Peace publicly shared her diagnosis on Instagram, alongside a video of her wig fitting. The montage saw her working with professionals to cut and style her new hair while filming on EastEnders.
“This video is an important part of my recent journey, which I wanted to share with you,” she wrote at the time.
Taking to Instagram on Friday (5 September), the star shared another positive update with her fans, revealing she would no longer be wearing the wig on set.
“Today I filmed the last scene with the wig ❤️ She’s been a wonderful companion. But me & her are over…” Peace wrote in the caption.
“I won’t ever forget her support in my down times. But it’s time I moved on. It’s a beautiful Friday. Happy weekend to one & all 🩷🩷🩷”
The video saw Peace celebrating on set, alongside other members of the cast and crew. Her on-screen wife Balvinder Sopal (Suki Panesar-Unwin) jokily praised the wig, telling fans: “She’s never got a line wrong… always on time, looking sharp.”
Peace explained that her next scenes will be filmed with her short hair, adding that it has grown back “really curly” and comparing it to “a labradoodle”.
The comment section was flooded with well-wishes for the star, as well as excitement for her new look.
“Well done for working through everything you’ve been going through & can’t wait to see you curly,” wrote one, while another said: “Its wonderful seeing you looking so well xx.”
A third added: “Rock that new hair like the legend you are!”
