Janelle Brown’s daughter Maddie is getting candid about her relationship with her dad, Kody Brown.
On the season 20 premiere of Sister Wives, the 29-year-old shared that after she’d attended the funeral of her brother Garrison, she spoke with Meri Brown’s child Leon about her anger towards their dad.
“After the funeral, we went back to Erica’s house, and we were having a BBQ. Leon and I started talking about just unpacking everything because Garrison’s death showed a lot,” Maddie said in a confessional.
The scene then switched to Erica’s house, where Maddie and Leon sat across from each other.
“So with Kody, it’s like I’m angry at the way things happened, but I can control how I react and how I reciprocate. And I’m still deciding how I do that,” Maddie told Leon.
“I’m sad, I’m sad for him and I’m really sad for Robin’s kids. And if I had a conversation with any of them, I’d be like, I have nothing against you. And if I’ve ever done anything to hurt you, I’m sorry,” she continued.
“I would love to have a conversation with them,” Leon responded.
“I’m not sure what to say other than that. If I ever caused you pain, I’m sorry,” Maddie said.
Back in a confessional, Maddie got emotional as she shared that she wishes her dad was in her life.
“You want your dad to show up and you want reconciliation. And I know that I played a part, but I’m angry. And I’m angry because I’m still trying to learn to not be disappointed,” she explained.
The episode then shifted to a confessional with Kody. He said that while he’d love to have a relationship with his children, he feels like the reconciliation is only on their terms.
“I’d really love to have a better relationship with my children than I had with those ex-wives. I literally just compartmentalize the heartbreak. I don’t know what to do,” he said.
“I would love healing with every single person I know. I would love healing with Mary. I would love healing with Janelle. I would love healing with Christine. And of course, all of my children. But I think we’re at an impasse here because this healing can only happen on their terms only,” added Kody.
Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
