Emmerdale fans have revealed a hidden affair between two villagers after a recent death, which could ‘expose’ the truth in upcoming episodes.

During recent episodes, the ITV soap aired heartbreaking scenes when one of the two limousines crashed into a frozen lake. Suzy, Leyla and Amy all fell victim to the aftermath as they were the three confirmed deaths in the accident.

Fans have watched as the village slowly grieves the lives that were impacted as they struggle to come to terms with the extent of the tragedy that occurred.

Mary Goskirk has been a regular in the Dales since 2022, and fans watched as Suzy became her confidante when she came out and tried to navigate the world of dating. Suzy was also a massive support when Mary fell for con woman Faye after she scammed her out of thousands of pounds.

After Suzy’s death was confirmed, some viewers expressed concern over how Mary would cope in the village without her. But others are convinced that it was more than a close friendship between the pair.

During Monday’s (24th February) episode, the villagers gathered for a vigil to pay respects to the three lives lost. Mary showed up in support of Suzy and was seen stealing a picture of her friend from Vanessa’s fridge.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), @VanitySwarla wrote: “MARY STEALING A PHOTO OF SUZY OMG WHAT” as @itfc6 added: “I know she liked Suzy but Mary better put that picture back!!”

Some viewers believe they had an affair behind Vanessa’s back, @Darryl__Jason penned: “Why do I get the feeling Suzy and Mary had a secret affair” and @swarlatakenover echoed: “Yo Mary and Suzy have definitely had an affair or some kind of a moment.. ‘She was my friend’ more than that love.”

Fans on a Reddit thread shared the same thought, u/austingirl95 suggested: “I think Suzy and Mary have kissed it’s just how they were last week” and u/HunterHead7690 replied: “I had this exact feeling when I saw Mary blow that kiss. My immediate thought was, ‘that’s weird, they’ve had no screen interactions for ages.’ Then I thought, ‘I wonder if something has been happening off-screen’. After April’s disappearance and subsequent flashback episode, it seems the writers like this format.”

u/RachaelL82 added: “I thought Mary blowing the kiss so publicly and with Vanessa standing right next to Suzy was very risky. I think they slept together the day/night before and Suzy planned to break up with Vanessa the day after the limo ride. She only went on the limo ride because she promised Kerry she would not because Vanessa was going too.

“It’s so sad Mary can never tell anyone because Suzy isn’t around to verify it. Although it will come out eventually. She’s going to come across an old fuddy-duddy. It’s going to be painful to watch. I think she’ll confess to Rhona but she won’t get the support she’s hoping for because Rhona has other stuff going on with April and Vanessa is her best friend and is grieving. Gail knew stuff about Mary and Suzy so at least she’ll have her.”
